The depopulation of rural territories in Sicily is putting into crisis the life of the Sicilian rural territories, and the life of pastoralism, its traditions, and the identity of these places. Yet Marta does not give up. In an isolated area of the mountains above Palermo, she continues to manage her farm that from pasture reaches the cheese making. Before it is too late she has made the decision to call all those who want to become the new “Pastors, Guardians of the tradition”.

Participate in the initiative of Marta because it is very important that everyone gives their own contribution to preserve a millenary tradition.

• Meeting with Marta at the viewpoint Azienda Agricola Balzo Rosso and start of the path to become true shepherds.
• Description of the pastoral world and milking of goats in Giovanni’s stable.
• Cheese making laboratory at the small dairy farm.
• Naturalistic walk to the summit with Marta and her friend Marco.
• Realization of a “scopino”, tool created by the shepherds to occupy time while the flock smokes the grass, and tasting.
• Return to the starting point, group greetings and photos.
